Round 8 - MONZA

Paul: absolutely. It would be a shame not to go on now that we had a start line with 21 cars. It took workto build a good enough reputation that brought many drivers to race with us. rFactor is actually a "vintage" racing simulator, it's hard to find a group of regular, experienced and fair drivers to race regularly, and if we miss this oportunity, if we don't continue to organize events to keep this group interest and participation it will be very hard for many of us to keep using rFactor1. Most simracers use iracing AC, rFactor 2 etc; only veterans like us are still able to enjoy racing with this aging and abandoned title.
rFactor Leagues are mostly gone/closed and to begin from scratch is, the way I see it, probably a waste of time.

If you need any help don't hesitate to call me. I work among other things as IT technician for more than 20 years, so pls feel free to use my experience whenever you need. If I may suggest, organizing some form of racing starting in the next 2 or 3 week is paramount to keep today's group active and interested in racing with/against each other.

@Antonio: I've taken some time to think about whether I want to run the league and too be honest I do but my health is so inconsistent that I'm afraid I don't think I'll be able to do it justice. I have therefore decided at this time not to pursue this avenue. I agree it's a shame to leave this as we do have a great group of guys but I can't commit to it because of my health. I hope that Marek will have a change of heart in the coming weeks and organise another series.

Qualy: Hadn't planned on racing tonight so did next to no practice. My initial setup was crap but luckily I changed a couple of things and ended up with a good one. After all that I was happy with 6th.

Race: Thought a top 5 finish would be a good result. Thought Mikko and Matheus would disappear into the distance and indeed they did, and they reappeared then disappeared. So it wasn't a surprise to see them both getting disconnected. With them gone I took over the lead. The opening laps I had a great fight with Marek and Aitor swapping positions several times. Got back into the lead but never pulled out more than a couple of seconds so the pressure remained on until the chequered flag. Think this was the best race of the season.

Well that's that I guess. Thanks to Marek for organising all of the series. Thanks to all of you for good clean racing. I am going over to iracing for a while and you can also find me at SimRacingOnline.

Hope you guys have a Happy and Prosperous New Year and hopefully see you on track soon.

Q: P11
I wasn't able to set my PB, but it was OK
R: P8
My start was avarage, but I found myself in P7 after a few laps. Someone took that position soon, so I was in P8 with Ales behind me. Sometimes he closed up, sometimes I was able to build a 3 sec gap. It was important to finish in a better position than Ales, because we had 15-15 points in the championship. He did a really good job closing up.
2 laps before the end, an unexcepted "Crew is ready for a pit stop" message popped up, and I lost concentration somehow
I made a slight mistake, and my position was in danger again. He did a great overtake in the first chichane in the last lap. Tomasz was also attacking, but I managed to keep P9, and started to chase Ales.
I was quite close in Lesmo1 and he made a mistake in Lesmo2, so I gained P8 back, with Tomasz directly behind. He tried to overtake me in the Ascari, but I kept P8 and bring it home.
That was a really intense last lap.

I would like to thank the incredible job of Marek, and to everyone who I ever race with here.
I became a better driver here, and learned a lot about racing. Thanks for the tough and fair battles.
That would be nice to race with this strong lineup again.
My all time favourite race was that hell of a 1,5 hour on the Nordschleife.

I'm planning to build a gamer PC (instead of my current very basic laptop) to move to a modern sim, but I would also happily continue here with rF1 :)

Thanks again, and wish you all the best

Hi everyone!

Well my race was a mess, but I wanted to thank everyone involved in this series and particularly Marek, for keeping this great sim and mod alive.
I'll be there if a new championship is done, that's for sure. Really nice place to be here.

Hope to see all of you soon, and best wishes for 2019.
